Windsurfing: Levington Wind Direction: sw Wind Stength: 13 to 20 Surf / Sea State: slight to mod chop Air Temperature: 20 Sea Temperature: 17 Weather: sunny Max Speed: 25.1 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 34.8 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
As the tide was right Rob and I went to Levington again.I rigged 3 sails at
the start 9.4,8.5 and 7.5 as it was difficult to judge the strength from
the beach.I started with the cat and 9.4 with Rob on the Lightning with
7.5.I was our plan to sail to the Orwell bridge but it was very windy up
the river so Rob turned back to practice water starts in the bay and I
continued up the river on a tight reach/beat.As I approached the bridge the
wind became gusty but I sailed under the bridge and had a mega reach back
making 24.7 on the longboard. After about 2 hours I switched to the carve
145 with 8.5 to try and beat my best time on this board of 24 kts.I beat
over the river to the flat water but the wind was just too light there so I
came back and because the tide had turned the river had flattened out and I
had some mega reaches pushing it as hard as I could and managed 25.1 which
was abit disappointing as I thought I was going much faster.I was knackered
by this point and had some scary wipeouts!!!!!Then after 3hrs 21mins my uj
snapped leaving my a 100m swim ashore!!! (it was lucky I was that close to
the beach - I could have been miles away)
